New Bangladesh coach Zoran Djordjevic arrives

Serbian coach Zoran Djordjevic arrived in Dhaka on Tuesday night to take charge of Bangladesh national football team for the coming 11^th SA Games. The Serbian veteran has accepted an offer from Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) to also guide the national team for next month’s AFC Challenge Cup final round in Colombo.

The 57-year-old, who lives in Dubai, will be accompanied by two assistants from Serbia who are expected in Dhaka on Wednesday and Thursday morning. The assistants, who fly from Belgrade, are Zoran Kraljevic and Berber Davor.

Djordjevic, who led Churchill Brothers to win the I-League as the first foreign coach to achieve the feat in India, was also the Yemen national team coach apart from guiding Saudi club Al Hilal FC and various middle-east clubs.

He had previously visited Dhaka during the Bangabandhu SAFF Championship 2009 as a guest of BFF and also met the federation high-ups with his future plans. Djordjevic’s future with Bangladesh, however, will depend on the performance during his first two-month stint.
